MY MORNING RAMBLE

I often think of Mary Oliver’s poems when I head to the woods. Her work is inspired by nature, rather than the human world, stemming from her lifelong passion for solitary walks in the wild.

My feathered friends early this morning
Perfect landings are the best
Chasing rainbows…
It’s all about the attitude

“Ordinarily, I go to the woods alone, with not a single
friend, for they are all smilers and talkers and therefore
unsuitable.

I don’t really want to be witnessed talking to the catbirds
or hugging the old black oak tree. I have my way of
praying, as you no doubt have yours.

Besides, when I am alone I can become invisible. I can sit
on the top of a dune as motionless as an uprise of weeds,
until the foxes run by unconcerned. I can hear the almost
unbearable sound of the roses singing.

If you have ever gone to the woods with me, I must love
you very much.”
― Mary Oliver,

About redcontroversy

I'm a stargazing, skywatching, storm loving, sungazing addict. Environmentalist, political blogger, professional photographer, writer, artist...my favourite quote is: "If the sight of the blue skies fills you with joy, if a blade of grass springing up in the fields has power to move you, if the simple things of nature have a message that you understand, rejoice, for your soul is alive". ~ Eleonora Duse ~ ...my soul is definitely alive.
