In ancient times the Greeks and the Romans believed in the importance of dreams to give information about past, present and future events. A dream is something you’ll remember when you first wake up. It fades over a few hours and eventually you’ll have little or no memory of it. A visitation is an actual visit from the soul or spirit of someone. It seems like a dream, but you will remember it vividly. It stays with you all day, or sometimes for weeks and months afterwards—maybe even forever. I have had one of those and I can recall it like it was just yesterday.
One dream I had kept recurring, so one morning when I woke up I sketched it.. months later I had the same dream and when I looked at my beginning sketch I realized I had missed lots of detail so I added more to it.. and finally I had a third dream that showed me there was a moon on the horizon. This dream seemed to be playing out so I could remember more each time I had it.
When I moved this year I kept it aside and began painting it.. I had an old canvas and began “doodling” on it.. I wish now I had used a new one because some of the imperfections show through but still the beauty of what I saw in my dream state sits there perfectly.
I just put the finishing touches on the framing this morning and a friend asked if she could buy it. I thought about it for a moment and replied … No because… “you can’t sell your dreams”…
