BOOK LOVERS NEVER GO TO BED ALONE

th

I just purchased a lovely bookshelf and thought it was time to keep only the books that mean something to me. I have some wonderful classics and their gold embossed pages are ever so delicate and it gives me a thrill to rustle them and ponder on their words.

As a good friend recently said you really don’t need to hang onto every book and the one your reading is the one for now. There are very few that you need to reread, or return to. Letting go of old books, is like getting rid of old ideas and can give you a sense of liberation. I tend to agree with him as in my latest move I’ve had to downsize considerably and my thoughts and ideas have expanded into another direction.

Filling this new bookcase will be exciting and hopefully telltale of my new circumstances and fresh thoughts on where I’m heading. Rather like a new road trip and adventure.

I bloody love the feeling of a new book on a new bookcase. It just feels right.

A good book is the best company. I had an aunt who used to throw this quote at me all the time lol “Always read something that will make you look good if you die in the middle of it”. Rather good advice I thought.
